I have reached 27 weeks and I believe this is my last week in my 2nd trimester. Man, it has flown by and if I think about it get a little overwhelmed at the fact that in 12 weeks and 1 day (85 days) we will be a family of four, that is unless he/she decides to come any earlier. I am still feeling great, more emotional this time than last, I am sure I have said this 100 times before, haha- could be from exhaustion! Speaking of exhaustion... the last two days have felt like my first trimester all over again. I was literally soo tired driving home yesterday that I could have pulled over and taken a little snooze. (Random thought) We still do not have a crib!!!! haha. I guess we need to get a move on this and get a move on emptying out the changing table! We moved the changing table into the new nursery a while back but we left Braxton's stuff in it. I am going to get him some type of storage for his jammies, shoes, socks, etc that fits in his closet so that we can use the changing table for new baby stuff. Oh me-oh my------12 weeks!!! Where did time go?!?!?! I keep thinking about the stuff that we need to get before the new baby arrives, which is not really a lot since we have it all from Braxton but there is little stuff like new bottle nipples, some new receiving blankets, etc.
Now onto the "rash," which I have diagnosed as hand foot and mouth disease. Poor baby. Saturday morning he woke up a little warm so I took his temp and it was almost 102. Now let me tell you something, when my baby has a fever we are not "let's just watch it" kind of parents. I called Buddy, who was working, and he said definitely call and get him in so I did. It was a rough morning, my baby with a fever means fussssssyyyyyy! He did eat a little breakfast and I got him some Tylenol and by 10am he was crying and crying and felt so bad. I got him cuddled up with me on the couch and he fell asleep (that in itself is a miracle). By the time I woke him up for the appt it was time for another dose of medicine and boy did he need it.... he was burning up! I got him to the doctor and by the time we saw the nurse we were both crying. He felt so bad and was so hot and I was just emotional and wanted my baby to feel better. I text Buddy, who was then on his way home from work, and asked him to please come to the dr to be with us (I needed a little support-haha). Anyways, the little stinker had a virus, his ears were clear and strep test was negative so we were sent home to treat the fever. While we were there we did talk to the doctor about this rash that my niece had and we chalked it up to be hand foot and mouth disease... BOO (my niece sees the same pediatrican as Brax and she also goes to the same childcare home so it's pretty common for them to get the same thing at the same time and the doctor see us on the same day or just a few days apart for the same symptoms). I knew that Brax was going to get it because he was following the same symptom route as sweet Madelyn. Sure enough, Sunday his fever was down pretty much all day, he was still fussy, and he developed the rash. It was not as bad as Madelyn's but it still produced some painful ugly blisters on his bottom, a few on his feet, hands, and around his mouth (including the inside of his bottom lip). Poor baby just didn't feel good. Anyways... long story--he is on his third day of staying home (this goes back to us being the protective parents about sickness--we do not take our baby around other children when he is sick and we do not like him to be around other sick kids--haha- we spent enough time in the doctor's office with ear infections this last year so anything we can avoid, we do!). His "dots" are clearing up, no more blisters, his appetite is coming back, and he is back to his playful, funny, goofy, sweet self!!!!!!!!!!
Eventful weekend/beginning of the week and I am so thankful that he is feeling better!
