A day in the life of

Part of our work

Brax hanging out in his exersaucer on the back porch
We have always enjoyed doing projects together as a couple.... if Buddy was going to be painting the whole house, I was going to be out there with him, if he was shingling the roof, I was up there with him, if he was going to be in the attic blowing insulation then I was going to be the one at the bottom loading the insulation in the machine, when he is weed eating the lawn, I am mowing it.  This is honestly how we have been throughout our whole relationship.  Today was no different.  Two weeks ago we were sitting outside eating dinner on the patio and Buddy decided to cut a tree down.  Not just trim, but straight up chain sawed it down right then.  This was all fine and dandy until WE had to drag it off the grass so it would not kill it.  This little tree that was going to be NO problem to cut down ended up being MUCH larger once it was laying in our yard. HAHA.  So while Brax sat in his exersaucer on the back porch here go Mom and Dad pushing and pulling these huge sections of this tree across the yard, haha.  We did get them to the concrete slab but this now left us with the job of cutting it apart and bundling it for the trash man.  Well guess what we did today???  Yup... cut and bundled the tree.

5 month post

We are literally having the time of our lives!  Brax continues to grow and develop EVERYDAY and it just gets more and more fun EVERYDAY!

OOps!

Here are some things that he is doing:
  • He can roll from his back to his tummy going left and right (I know this sounds crazy but when he first started rolling he would only roll to his right but now he goes both ways.)  We are still working on going from tummy to his back though.
  • He is eating two meals a day.  He gets one jar of veggies at lunch and one jar with a bowl of cereal at dinner.  He is eating great!
  • He is taking 7oz in his bottles.
  • Still LOVES bath time!  If I had an appropriate video of it I would post it but all of the ones that we have end up showing private areas, haha.
  • We have been working on sitting up.  I have sat him in the boppy and he will do fairly well but he tends to move really spastic and that gets him way off balance and he falls back.  HAHA.  I can get him to straighten his back and balance for like 4-5 seconds but that is about it.  I blame it on there being a LONNNG body to balance. He will get it soon though!
  • He weighs between 17 and 18 pounds according to our scale at home.
  • We started putting him in size three diapers a couple of weeks ago because of a severe diaper rash and so he just wears those now. He definitely fits the weight range for size three.
  • Since we have started feeding you the bowl of plain cereal with dinner.... (drum roll please).... you have been sleeping through the night!!!!!  HOOORAY! He used to be a great sleeper at night then he started teething and got an ear infection and it all went down hill from there.  He was ending up in our bed every night because I was SO exhausted and that was the only way I could get him to stay asleep.
  • He just started blowing raspberries and it is SO cute!
I feel like time is flying and there is no slowing it down.  Braxton continues to grow and progress and it is so bittersweet for this sensitive momma.  HAHA.  I love love love watching him grow and learn new things but I feel like it is all happening WAY too fast.  We enjoy every minute of it and would not trade it for the world!

Happy 5 month birthday baby boy.  Mommy and Daddy love you to the moon and back.

The End to an Amazing Weekend

This weekend was by far the best weekend we have had in a while and the weird this is that we didn't even do much.  Since Brax was born and we are both working, the weekends are so valuable to us.  The weather was so nice this weekend so we stayed outside a lot.  Friday evening we went to eat with Scott and Steph and Miss Peyton.  We always have a good time and it is just a nice relaxing dinner with great family/friends!   Saturday morning we got up and Buddy hauled some stuff from the back yard to the front yard while I cleared, swept, and cleaned the back porch furniture and Brax played in his exersaucer.  That evening we took our first family fishing trip which was so nice and relaxing and FUN!!!  Sunday, Buddy and his dad went fishing but Brax and I stayed home from this trip due to his runny/stuffy nose.  AND... get ready for this... Brax took a THREE hour nap.  He has only done this one other time since he was born.  It actually worried me that something could be wrong because he NEVER sleeps that good.... so he napped and Buddy and I watched Toy Story 1,2,or3... not sure which one then started watching the Blind Side!  To end our perfect weekend, we went on a family grocery shopping trip (haha) and had a steak dinner on the back porch!  Here are some pictures from our dinner, of course most of them are of Braxton, hehe =)

Our First Family Fishing Trip!

We decided to go fishing yesterday as a family and we had a blast.  I knew that there would probably not be a lot of fishing by me since one of us would need to tend to Brax and I was correct (I did catch the first fish though when Daddy was talking to another fisherman!).  We still had a great time.  I brought two blankets for Brax and me to sit on and we played and played and played.

More Peas Please

So Brax is at the age that we can start solids... well not really solids but that is what they call them =)  We started him on cereal the week before his 4 month check up. His sleeping had been SO off and he was waking up SOOOO many times during the night that we were for sure that he was just hungry.  WELL... ending up he hated it!  The first night was so easy, he ate it all and did very well.  From that point on he never ate it again.  HAHA.  He fought and fought and fought.  My thinking was that he just was not ready.  I just knew that starting him a week early was the reason, but it has yet to get any better.  By the time we were even to the point of making any kind of dent in the bowl he was literally clamping his mouth shut and not letting any more of that yucky stuff in.  I was determined to not give up, so we kept trying night after night with no prevail.  I was also so nervous to tell the dr that we had started him on cereal a week early but she was SO ok with it and even asked me about solid foods before I could tell her.  I told her what had been happening and she said that some babies just don't like the rice cereal so to give him oatmeal.... well long story short he hates that too. HAHA.  I am thinking that it is the texture.  The doctor said that if this was the case and he did not like it then to just go on with the veggies.  So, last night was his first night to start peas.  He did really really well.  And did really well tonight too!!!  Tonight I even mixed a tiny bit of cereal in the peas with a tiny bit of water to try and get him used to some kind of texture.  He ate all of it!!!! Next we will try green beans then avocados!

The Yucky Cereal

So over this nasty stuff!
