3 months old, already?!?!

Our big boy at three months.  Excuse his eyes... haha.  He is a very serious little boy!

he looks so little on the big couch!

"Hey Ladies"
I think back to November 30th and I think "It can't already have been 3 months, can it?!"  Well yes, it has and we have loved watching Braxton grow, change, learn, etc!  Let's see what has he been up to...
  • Still takes 5oz every 3 hours or so.
  • He weighs 14 pounds!  He is our big boy!
  • He is wearing size 1 diapers
  • He is still mainly in 0-3 month clothes but has some onesies that are too short and many sleepers that are too short so we have him in 3-6 month sleepers just for length.
  • He usually only wakes up one time during the night
  • He goes to bed between 8-9 every night and is very good at putting himself to sleep.  He is usually so tired by the time we put him down that it does not take long for him to go to sleep.
  • This month he has had his first stuffy nose.  The good thing is that it is usually at it's worst in the morning and then will clear up as the day goes on.  We have his humidifier going every night, the head of his bed is slightly elevated since laying flat makes it worse, and we have been using saline drops!  He has not had any fever and does not act like he feels bad at all and we are VERY thankful for that.  (EDIT: we took him to the doctor on Friday and he has allergies and is beginning to teeth.... so those are the causes for the stuffy nose.)
  • He smiles A LOT!  He loves for us to talk and sing to him and he will smile the whole time!
  • He has also started getting excited to see us.  Sometimes when we walk up to him he starts kicking his legs and moving his arms and just smiling!  It is such a wonderful feeling, even if it is 3:30 in the morning!!!
  • This month he also spent his first unexpected night away from us.  Buddy came down with a severe stomach problem one evening and ended up being sick ALL night.  SO I laid in bed just worrying about Braxton getting sick and I literally did not sleep a wink.  So the next day Buddy was still sick and I was at work just dragging (I thought it was from lack of sleep and worrying so much).  But by the end of the day I was freezing cold (fever) and had not eaten a single thing all day.  So my mom agreed to pick him up from Mrs. D and Mr. T's house and keep him for a while so I could take a nap and hopefully feel better but by the time I got home I had a 101.6 fever and started vomitting and by the time I went to carenow I had a 102.1 fever.  So Buddy and I decided that it was best that he not be around us.  So my mom kept him.  Let's just say this was VERY VERY VERY hard on this momma.  I cried about it A LOT.  I cried in carenow just thinking about him not being with me, I cried everytime my mom would send me a picture, I laid in bed and cried, but it turned out to be ok.  I am not going to say I did not obsessively text her asking him about him, because I did, but I was able to get a whole nights rest and felt much better the next day!
  • He has started talking a lot more and we LOVE it.  It is like you are sitting there having a conversation with him =)
  • He has giggled a couple of times!!!!!!  You have to act or sound really stupid in order to get him to do it, haha, but it was for sure a giggle!
  • He still loves his bath and he gets one every night.  He probably does not need one every night (he doesn't move around a lot) but we both enjoy the routine of it and it helps wind him down plus it's so fun! He sits there and we talk and he smiles the whole time... but as soon as he hears that water go off and we stop washing him, he SCREAAAAAMMMSSS!  We keep the bathroom heater on and wrap him in a thick hooded towel as soon as we are done so he can not possibly be cold.  He have tried drying and lotioning him in the bathroom... we have tried doing that on his changing table (which is his FAVORITE place to be) we have tried everything. (EDIT..... the last few days he  has been happy as a little lark when I take him out)
Mommy and Daddy love you to the moon and back baby boy.

That's right you read that correctly.... Braxton giggled!!!!  I will try to get it on video and post it but you would probably be really weirded out by the crazy things that we have to do in order to get him to giggle!  HAHA.

Haven't updated in a while

Snow day fun with his two cousins!  I am sure you could guess that it was really hard getting three babies to all look in the right direction.
Madelyn was the only one ready!

Ooops, Brax lost head control

Poor Madelyn!

Just thought that I would update since I have not written in a while.  I am back at work now and things have changed just a little bit.  My first day back at work was Monday, January 31st.  This was a normal day, normal schedule, etc and then we woke up Tuesday to an ice storm.  Now this was a normal Texas ice storm until Wednesday night (I think it was Wednesday maybe Thursday) when it snowed.... A LOT, ok so it was a lot for Texas!  The weather was so bad that most all of the schools would go ahead and make the announcement that they were closed the night before they actually were.  So needless to say, my first week back ended up being a one day work week with a TON of cabin fever!  So, the following Monday, February 7th, I started over.. HAHA.  I only thought that it was going to be a full week until Tuesday night when there was more ice supposed to sprinkle North Texas.  Again we were closed.  So.... my first two weeks back I got to ease into things, which was nice and gave me LOTS of extra time with Brax!

Our routines have changed a lot since I have gone back to work.  We have been cooking dinner EVERY night, which we have always tried to do but now we were being very disciplined about it, in between stirs and cutting and preparing the food there is always a diaper change here and there or a feeding or singing, reading etc.  After dinner we have play time, bottle washing, sterilizing, making the night bottle, bottles of the next day, etc THEN around 7 or 7:30 it's bath time.  Braxton still LOVES LOVES LOVES his bath... I mean absolutely loves it but still SCREAMS and shreeks when we take him out.  We have tried everything!  I honestly have come to the conclusion that he has learned to throw a fit at two months about getting out of the bath tub, haha.

I am not going to lie, going back to work was not easy at first, I cried walking up to the door of our daycare lady's house the first day I took him, but it has gotten easier.  The exhaustion on the other hand has not gotten any better.  Braxton only wakes up one time night, which really is not bad at all but for some reason my body is still not used to the broken sleep and getting up early combination (usually between 4:45 and 5).  To make it clear on how tired I really am, I fell asleep at a red light yesterday and was woken up when the guy behind me honked and I opened my eyes to find that the car in front of me was nowhere to be seen.  I can giggle about this now (honestly who falls asleep at a red light!?) but I was honestly so freaked out and terrified by this.  I get up between 4:45 and 5 and I am ready to go by 530 so that I can get things packed and have breakfast before I have to get Braxton up.  I usually get him up at 6:00 to dress him and change him.  When I say "get him up" that does not mean that he actually wakes up, haha.  There have been numerous mornings that I have had to dress and change him while he was sleeping.  This morning he was awake and ALL smiles, which started my day off GREAT!!! Although I might be exhausted I can truly say I would not change a thing, I love my life just the way it is!

Ok enough of me rambling.. I will update for his 3 month birthday soon... although he does not have one since he was born on the 30th!

Two month check up

Buddy took Braxton for his two month check up yesterday and he is growing like a weed.  He weighs 12lbs 8oz and is 24 inches long.  It is amazing to me that our baby is already TWO feet long haha it just sounds so BIG!  Just a comparison of his 1 month picture to his 2 month picture

Sorry they are not side by side but I could not figure it out!
