4 months

Where has the time gone.  It is literally just speeding by and it is not slowing down.  This month has been great!!!  Braxton continues to develop into his own little self and we LOVE it.  He smiles ALL the time.  Let's see what else:

Our Happy Boy!

He was very interested in touching this bear, it was so cute!

  • Weight 15lb 14oz, Height 26 inches
  • He is starting to talk more... EDIT: he has found his voice.  March 18th he started doing this high pitched noise and he has NOT stopped! He loves to do it about 3AM too =)
  • His sleeping has been really off for about the last month.  It started out with a stuffy nose but then turned into the teething, the stuffy nose went away.... then came back along with an ear infection.
  • He wears mainly 6-9 month clothes and can fit into a couple of twelve month short onesie outfits that I have bought him for summer.  He is a big boy, not huge by any means, but he is VERY long for his age and I think a little heavy ;)
  • Brax has officially cut his first tooth (March 6th) and the second one I can feel the top but it has not come all the way through.  EDIT: the second one has broken all the way through so daddy always tells him that he has "two tooths"!  We love the big open mouth smiles that show both of his teeth!
  • He had his first ear infection this month. When people say to trust your motherly instinct... trust it! I am so glad that I was off for spring break so that I was able to catch it and get him into the doctor ASAP!
  • He LOVES to stand up now.  For the first couple of months he would not put ANY weight on his legs (of course I did not expect him too for like the first two months)  But now he LOVES to stand up and a lot of times would rather be standing than sitting!
Standing up like a big boy!

  • He loves to kick his legs still.  We kid that he will probably be a runner because he is constantly "running." (he didn't get the running from me, haha)
  • He is in a size two diaper.
  • He takes 6oz at most feedings (the teething and stuffy nose has thrown him off a little but he continues to be a pretty good eater!)
  • He does not mind tummy time as long as we do not leave him there forever.
  • He can roll onto his side (both ways) but can not roll all the way over yet.  EDIT: last night he made it all the way over minus his hand getting stuck.
  • He loves to hold his rattle and shake it until he hits himself in the head.
Getting Ready for SUMMER!!!
Sleeping next to Daddy

We have both enjoyed this last month sooo much (not that we did not enjoy all of the others ones) but he has started to really do some stuff (haha).

Happy 4 month birthday baby boy!  Mommy and Daddy love you to the moon and back!!

Caught it on video!!!

Ok so I finally caught him laughing on video.  **NOTE: my husband does NOT laugh like that or sound like that in real life, haha.  I am telling you we do some really silly stuff to hear that sweet laugh.

What a difference a year can make

A year ago today I saw this......

Of course I still remember coming home from work that Friday afternoon and thinking "I am sure this is going to be negative... again"  I remember putting the test on the side of the bath tub and before I could even stand up those two pink lines appeared.  My breath was sucked out of me, literally.  I will never forget that feeling.
NOW, one year later, we know a love that we never knew exsisted, the love for our child.

A year ago, we could pick up and go anywhere at any time with no notice at all, today we have to plan things out... do we need a babysitter, is the diaper bag packed, how many bottles will we need AND, on top of that it takes us like 15  minutes (on a good day) to get out the door to go anywhere (haha).
A year ago, we could stay up as late as we wanted and not worry about having to get up on the weekends or we could go to bed whenever we wanted and not have to worry about waiting for the little one to go to sleep.
A year ago, my house was always clean (ok so most of the time).  Today it is over flowing with baby items, the floors need to be swept, the carpet needs to be vacuumed, and the bed needs to be made.
A year ago, I got to work every day at 6:30... the other day I walked in at 7:25.
A year ago, it was just my husband and me.
Today.... we are a family of three! (I promise I did not mean for this to rhyme!)
I love this new season of life that we have and would not change it for the world. I love the adventure of going anywhere with a baby... even after we have checked and double checked to make sure we have everything... it is inevitable that we will get somewhere and not have something we really need, I love rocking him even if it is in the middle of the night and all I want to do is go back to bed, I enjoy getting to work later (NO MORE TEN HOURS DAYS), I love having a "dirty" house" because it means more time to sing, dance, play, coo, talk, and read to Braxton, but most of all....I love our little family!

Teething

Sunday March 6th I found Braxton's first tooth.  We had taken him to the doctor the week before for a very stuffy nose and she told us it was allergies and also from him being an early teether, BUT she said that it would probably still be another month before the teeth actually came through... well she was wrong.  His first one is in and the one beside it is now visible and almost all the way through.  Braxton is very drooly and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS has his hands in his mouth.  We have teething rings and toys for him but he would much rather use his hands.
Trying to figure out whether he wanted his hands or his keys
He picked the keys for a minute

His new trick....

So Braxton has now learned to turn on his side (he hasn't made it all the way over yet though).  BUT he can always turn on his side and get situated in just the right position to watch T.V.  I know, I know he is really young to watch TV but he does it himself so when I see it I just make sure it is something ok for him to watch!

Nobody told us....

Nobody told us that when we have a baby we would gain so many new decorations for our living room and kitchen countertops.  (ha) Although the clutter sometimes drives me crazy, we honestly would not have it any other way!

Prayers

There is a blog I read, Kelly's Korner, and sometimes she posts prayer request.  Well.... yesterday she posted a few and gave the blog sites so that we were able to read about these individuals/families.  I read them and.... and my heart broke.  The first one is a little girl who just a week ago had what they thought was a stomach bug and today she is recovering from surgery to remove a few tumors on her brain and spine.  This family will soon be transfered to St. Jude to continue treatment.  You can read about this family here.  Another prayer request that she posted was about a couple who lost their four month old baby, I think about two weeks ago.  The baby was at the caregivers house and was found lifeless.  You can read about this couple here.  Keep all of them in your prayers!
