Swimmin' Monday

Cousin Petyon came over to swim with Brax today and they had so much fun!  We had a few mishaps but we all survived, haha!

Cousin Peyton in her adorable swim suit!

Cousin Peyton borrowed Brax's hat, so cute!

Big Boy loves to swim

Half Way Through His First Year ALREADY?!?!?

Happy to be 6 months old!

OOPS!
It really is almost unbelieveable that Braxton is already 6 months old.  I say this on all of his monthly posts but time is flying by, seriously!!  We are loving every single minute of it and would not trade for anything.  He is truly the happiest baby and smiles non-stop.  He has a onesie that says "smiley" on it and we joke that all of his onesies need to say smiley because it is non-stop.  We love love love to see his smile and hear his little giggle.  Let's see...things that he is doing now:
  • I do not have his stats yet because he does not go to the doctor until the 6th but last time they weighed him he was 18.3lb and last time I measured height (a while ago) he was 26inches long.
  • He can sit up unsupported pretty well.  He sometimes knocks himself off balance because his legs literally run all the time or he will reach forward for something that is way to far for him to reach and face plant.
  • He can roll both ways (left and right) and both ways from tummy to back and back to tummy.
  • He puts his knees under him when he is laying on his stomach and will push himself forward,  but he is unable to get up on his arms at the same time.  When his knees are under him, his face is usually planted in the ground.
  • He eats two meals a day.  For lunch he eats 1-2 jars of baby food depending on how hungry he is and for dinner he gets a bowl of cereal and 1 to 1-1/2 jars of food depending on how hungry he is.  The rest of his "meals" are bottles in which he takes between 6-7 ounces.  Since starting food, he cut down on his bottles a lot.  He usually will only take 4 full bottles and might have a couple of ounces right after dinner.
  • He was sleeping really good until he got a virus that lead to an ear infection.  We spent many awake throughout the night because poor Brax felt so horrible.  He is feeling better now though and back to sleeping good!
  • He loves loves loves for us to sing, even if it is a made up song.  No matter what he is doing if you start singing he looks up at you with a huge open mouth smile.
  • He now has FOUR teeth.  Two bottom and Two top.  The top two broke through at the same time he was sick, which only made him feel worse.  Poor baby.
  • He loves to be outside.  We eat dinner outside sometimes or will bring him outside when we are working in the yard or on the house and he loves it.  His favortie thing to do is watch the trees blow.
  • He is still not a good napper.  Sometimes only sleeping a total of 1-2 hours during the day.
  • He puts everything in his mouth and drools like crazy all the time.
  • We are still practicing the sippy cup.  He has not mastered it and a lot of times would rather chew on it than drink anything from it.  I still offer it to him every night after dinner and most of the time I just let him "explore" it which ends up in a juice soaked bib and outfit, but that is ok.
  • He still LOVES bath time.  We moved him to the toddler side of the tub now and he sits up like a big boy the whole time.  He still kicks his legs and has started swinging his arms like crazy to splash the water.
  • He wears 9-12 month clothes.
I feel so blessed to be a mommy and I would not trade any part of it for the world.  The Lord truly blessed us with Braxton and we are so very thankful for that.

Braxton, mommy and daddy love you to the moon and back baby boy.

Swimming Pools and Bath Tubs!

Today my sister and I bought the babies a swimming pool!  Actually she got one for her house and I got one for my house.  The water was so cold but that did not stop the fun!  Brax and Miss Priss were so cute!

My happy water baby!  Isn't he the cutest?

Miss Priss looking so cute!

He absolutely LOVES the water!

You talkin' to me?

This would be naked Brax after a spit up incident and an overly water logged diaper.  We will be investing in the little swimmers soon!

Today when we got the new swimming pools I also picked Brax up a new bath tub!  He loves it and I do too! haha

Isn't it cute?

Just some fun pictures from this last week.

Heartache and Happiness

I never really say much about my job because I am never too sure what is acceptable for me to say but to start with I am a teacher.  I teacher 5th grade math in Irving.  I learned last year, my first year teaching, that with the job title, "teacher," comes other titles such as: friend, mom, disciplinarian, confidant.  Students sometimes share very private things with me, some things I expect and somethings are completely unexpected and most of the time shocking, sad, heartbreaking, sometimes disgusting, and many many other  descriptive words.  Sometimes Many times there are kids in your class that drive you up the wall but as soon as you find out more about them you know why they are or why they act the way they do.  Yesterday was a first hand example of this and I will NEVER forget it.  One that left me heartbroken but yet so full.

I had dismissed the kids as normal and made my way back to my classroom where I was going to "find" something to do until I could leave.  At dismissal I had a student that needed to walk his sister home but was coming back for his soccer party for the school soccer team.  I kept his stuff with me so that he did not have to carry it on his walk.  As I sat at my computer, he walked back in and I showed him where I had put his belongings and he looked at me and said "Mrs. Carney will you come watch me get my soccer trophy since my mom is not coming?"  Right then and there my heart shattered.  I don't even think that I shut my computer down before I jumped up (fighting back the tears that were welling up in my eyes) and said "OF COURSE!!!"  We walked to the office to call his mom who was supposed to bring juice boxes up for the party and could not get a hold of her or find her anywhere.  Thankfully another teacher saw her in the back parking lot and we were able to find her.  She dropped his juice boxes off and left.  So we made our way to the soccer party and I proudly stood there as his "mom" as he got his soccer trophy.

First thing this morning he came in and thanked me for going with him.  I told him that I was so glad to be there and told him that I was going to give him my classroom number so if anything comes up next year and his mom can't make it then I would come for him.  He smiled a BIG SMILE and said " oh there are going to be a lot of things so get ready."

It's moments like these when I know I have to enter my classroom not only as a teacher but as the adult/parent/mom that some of my students do not have.

What I'm Lovin' Wednesday

Jamie over at This Kind of Love hosts an event every Wednesday called What I'm Lovin' Wednesday.  It's neat to see what everyone else is lovin' this week!  I thought I would give it a try....

  • I am lovin' these Morning Star Spicy Black Bean Burgers, they are delicious!

  • I am lovin' the fact that it is almost summer break! (Even though I am teaching summer school)
  • I am still lovin' Lisa Leonard designs but can not decide which piece I want
  • I'm lovin' that the five day forecast does not have any rain/severe weather predicted
Ok so my lovin's  are not that exciting, haha, but it's harder than I thought it would be to come up with things!

Busy Busy Weekend

Well the weekend has come and gone.  It was a good one but a very very busy one and I am definitely feeling it.  I actually took my first nap today since Braxton was born and man it felt good!  Just a little weekend wrap up...

We finished painting the house.  What a long process.

What do you do when it is hot outside and mommy and daddy are painting?
Swim in my bath tub! Don't worry I did not leave him unattended, ha ha. I stopped painting!

Took a nice little walk to the park Saturday evening.
Braxton will LOVE the park by our house when he starts walking/toddling around!

Mommy and Brax before our walk.
This one is out of order.  But this is Saturday morning play time with Daddy and Buster and Scout!

I did a 5K Sunday morning with my step mom for Weight Watchers!
Sorry for the horrible picture, a friend of mine from  my meeting took it on his phone.

Riding in the cart for the first time.  He LOVED it!
Don't worry I sanitized the whole cart before he got in and we bought a car/high chair cover on our shopping trip!

Brax gets mo-hawks when Daddy bathes him!

Wonderful Wednesday

A wonderful Wednesday evening on the back porch, lots of cute pictures, and a peaceful heart tonight.
He really is this happy almost all of the time!

Attempted a self portrait haha I look terrible!

Two teeth at one time means something is always in his mouth!

My view as we enjoyed the evening

LOVE LOVE LOVE this little guy

He would NOT look up... I tried every noise known to man

Then I started singing .....

still singing!  *Please excuse the excessive drool*
