Our God is an AWESOME God

Last Wednesday I got a text from my sweet friend Heather about a tornado a mile wide that was heading towards Tuscaloosa,Alabama, the town where she went to college.  She has many friends and knows many people that are still in and around that area.  The tornado was so big and destructful(is that a word?) that it was on the news here, two states west of Alabama!  Thankfully her family was spared and did not recieve damage that I know of, but SO many others were affected by the devistating destruction of this monsterous tornado.  One of her friends is a teacher in a town called Hackleburg.  It's a small enough town that grades K-12 are all housed in the same building.  Another tornado plunged through Hackleburg destroying their only gas station, their only grocery store, their only restaurant, AND their only school.  Here is where God comes in.... this should have been a school day. The kids, teachers, and staff should have all been there BUT with the risk of severe weather they canceled school that day.  I asked Heather if this was a normal occurance and she said no that it was rare for them to actually cancel a whole day of school for severe weather.  Here is a picture of the hallway right outside of her friend's classroom.  Under these cinderblocks is where her friend, the students, the other teachers, the janitor, and everyone else at the school would have been taking cover.

devistating

(some how my alignment is set to center now and will not go back, sorry)
The state of devistation in Alabama is heartbreaking, saddening, and every other depressing word you can think of.  Heather, being the most generous person EVER, set up a plan to help in any way that she could.  Her friend said that as soon as they get power back that they will be finishing out the school year in the ONLY church still standing.  Sadly they have no school supplies and no way of getting any because most of the towns around Hackleburg were destroyed too.  So Heather set out to collect school supplies.  She said that the amount of support and help is overwhelming.  This now leads her to the cost of shipping....... with the overwhelming amount of support with the school supplies she was going to be left with an ENORMOUS shipping cost, which to her did not matter at all.  Well.... here is God again....her dad's friend, who works for UPS, has offered to cover the shipping cost to get all of these school supplies to Hackleburg!
Please continue to pray for all of the people affected by these nasty tornadoes. Here is a video of the Hackledburg devistation:
