10 lessons of 2010

I got this idea from a friend on facebook and I thought that it was a great idea.  These are in no particular order.
  1. This first one I love so much I am going to repost from the girl on facebook (Kaelin).  "Don't compare your journey of life to others, they have a different journey."  I have been guilty of this but have learned that we are all different and the Lord has different journeys planned for each and every one of us.
  2. During the months of us trying to get pregnant it truly felt like the whole world was getting pregnant around us.  Month after month we were let down and it was very hard to keep any faith at all.  One day a dear friend of mine sent me a poem from a book called Just Enough Light for the Step I'm On.  Part of this poem says "...God gives us just the amount of light I need for the exact moment I need it.  At those times I walk in surrender to faith, unable to see the future and not fully comprehending the past.."  Then later on in the poem it says "...I must determine to be content where I am, and allow God to get me to where I need to go."  This was all so fitting during this time and was a great lesson!  (PS if you have not read this book, it's a good one!)
  3. NOBODY, no matter how many times they tell you how bad it hurts, how they try to explain it, etc can ever prepare you for the pain of labor.
  4. I continue to realize day after day that my husband was placed in my life for SO many reasons, big and small.
  5. Motherhood is the most emotional and exhausting, yet rewarding, amazing and wonderful thing I have ever experienced.
  6. Nobody is perfect.  We have to learn from our mistakes, work on those things, stay strong, and move on.
  7. Buying a house can be a long stressful process that can change at any moment.
  8. Sometimes the best advice comes from someone you least expect it to.
  9. There is no reason to stress over things you can not change.  "It is what it is" (I am still working on this one)
  10. You can't make everyone happy.  (This is a hard one for me... still a work in progress).
